Context

As part of the national strategy to accelerate the energy transition, Cape Verde will host the first edition of the International Energy Conference (IEC) on 2 and 3 October 2025. This annual event, which will have as its motto “The Path to Energy Transition: Integrating Efficiency and Innovation in Consumption Management”, is promoted by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Energy with the support of the Energy Transition Programme, financed by Luxembourg Cooperation. Each edition of the IEC will address a strategic theme to drive the sustainable energy transition. In 2025, the focus will be on Energy Efficiency, with a comprehensive programme that will highlight good practices and innovative solutions for four key areas defined in the National Programme for Energy Sustainability (PNSE): buildings, industry, mobility and equipment. The event will bring together experts, government leaders, the private sector, academia and civil society to discuss strategies for optimizing energy consumption, challenges and opportunities in the sector, and innovative technologies to strengthen energy efficiency as a pillar of sustainable development and business development. Held in a hybrid format, with simultaneous translation and 100% digital content, the event reinforces the commitment to sustainability. This event seeks to eliminate the use of plastic and reduce the use of paper as much as possible. It will also feature a space for business exhibitions and presentations of innovative solutions, providing networking and the exchange of good practices among the more than 500 expected participants.
