Agnes Maria de Aragão da Costa has been Director of the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) since December 2022, with a term ending in 2028.
An economist from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) with a master's degree in Energy from the University of São Paulo (USP), she has been a Specialist in Public Policy and Government Management since 2006.
She worked for almost 18 years at the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), where she held strategic positions as advisor, program director, and head of the Special Advisory Office on Regulatory Affairs. During her career at the MME, she coordinated important initiatives such as the Modernization of the Electricity Sector, the National Hydrogen Program, the CPAMP, and policies focused on energy transition, innovation, and international cooperation.
She is recognized for her technical expertise and vision regarding the transformative role of the energy sector in society. She has solid experience in corporate governance, having served on the boards of directors and fiscal councils of companies such as CEAL, CEPISA, Norte Energia, Eletrobras, and Petrobras. Her work combines technical knowledge, strategic vision, and a commitment to the sustainable development of the Brazilian electricity sector.
