Virginia Parente

Teacher of the Postgraduate Program in Energy
São Paulo, Brasil

Expert in energy transition strategy and planning. She holds a PhD in Financial Administration and Economics, completed an exchange program at New York University, and a postdoctoral degree in Energy from the University of São Paulo (USP). After 15 years as an executive at national and international banks, specializing in infrastructure financing, she joined the USP Institute of Energy and Environment, where she has worked in the Graduate Program and on courses at the School of Business Administration and the USP Polytechnic School. In recent years, she has served as a board member for companies such as Eletrobrás, the largest company in the Brazilian electricity sector, among others, contributing to their strategic decisions. She has also provided services to various institutions, serving as a reviewer and technical expert in arbitration disputes. She was president of the Strategic Energy Committee of the Brazil-United States Chamber of Commerce; director of the Brazilian Society for Energy Planning; and director of the National Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo. She was Deputy Coordinator of the Center for Research on Carbon Emissions Policy and Regulation (NUPPREC). With practical experience in both the public and private sectors, she has developed work focusing on Transition and Strategic Planning, Regulation and Tariff Policy, ESG, Risk Management, and Energy Security.
