Vladimiro Miranda

President of INESC P&D Brasil, Director of INESC TEC

Vladimiro Miranda is an IEEE Fellow and received the IEEE Excellence Award in renewable energy in 2014. Professor Emeritus at the University of Porto, he is a retired Full Professor at its Faculty of Engineering. He is currently President of INESC P&D Brasil and Director at INESC TEC, Portugal.  He is Scientific Advisor to Science and Innovation institutions in Morocco, Spain, and Argentina, and consultant to ARENE – Mozambique's Electricity Regulatory Authority. He has also collaborated with government and academic agencies in South Africa, Brazil, Chile, China (Hong Kong and Macau), Norway, and Portugal. 

He is a Member of the Strategic Council of Forum Oceano, an association of Portuguese companies for the blue economy. He was International Advisor to the University of Hong Kong and President of INESC Macau, China. He has served on the boards of start-up companies created by the INESC system. 

He is the author of many international scientific publications and is identified as one of the top 1% most influential scientists in the world in his field, with his contribution to the development of artificial intelligence applied in the field of systems and power and energy being widely recognized. He has been responsible for many international science and innovation projects, with his models being applied in companies in several countries.
